Our Story
ENU Builds Inc. is a New York State 501c3 non-profit organization based in Westchester County. It was officially established in January of 2018 in Ossining, New York, after several casual conversations between two old friends. They were frustrated by the lack of resources and activities for the young black youth in their area. Tamarah Bridgewater, the founder of Art in a Box, and Jermain Smith, the founder of Project105 Athletics, were simply two local residents and parents who admired each other’s work in the community. They started what is now ENU Builds Inc., driven by the desire to create a better community for the youth.
What does ENU stand for?
ENU stands for Empower, Network and Uplift.
Our mission is to help youth achieve their full potential by amplifying and celebrating their voices and connecting them with a wider community network. We specialize in youth development, which is our main focus area. We are located in Ossining, NY, but we serve the Hudson Valley region and beyond.
What does ENU actually do?
Our organization aims to address the unmet needs of our community. We listen to the voices of the community and provide solutions and services that match their aspirations. We stand up for the community and facilitate access to resources and support for the dreams of the youth or young adults in our community. Our main focus is youth development, and everything we do is connected to youth in some way. Through community engagement, we offer a variety of activities, enrichment opportunities and more to all community members. This includes classes, in-person events, partnerships, podcast conversations, workshops, virtual meetings, and more.

There are several ways to get involved with us, such as joining our mailing list, to stay informed. Attending and sharing our ENU meetings, volunteering at events or offering support in some way, donating to support our mission or sponsoring an activity.
